Jonathan Rowley, Cheshire – reunited with £1,400

To celebrate the birth of his first grandson in 1965, Mr Bill Forster, a miner from Staffordshire, set up a small savings plan in his grandson’s name – Jonathan Rowley.

Jonathan is now 39 years old and lives in Cheshire with his wife Christine and his two children, Francesca (5 years old) and Jon-Paul (3 years old). It wasn’t until after his grandfather’s death in 1991, that Jonathan, a keen genealogist, found the policy details when looking through some old photographs and paperwork.

Karen Dilk, Ryde, Isle of Wight - reunited with lost pension fund!

Karen is 38 years old and lives on the Isle of Wight with her husband and three children. She moved to Ryde from Bedford six years ago as they decided to set up a fish and chip shop.

Karen always thought that she may have had a few company pensions that had managed to get lost after moving jobs and houses quite a few times. However, not knowing of any way of retrieving this money and too busy running the business and looking after her family the money lay unclaimed. All this changed however when she heard of FundsReunited and the service it offers in an article in The Sun in May 2004.

Stephen Morris, Kingswood, Surrey – reunited with almost £3,500

With his father in the army, Stephen Morris now 47 grew up moving house every couple of years both within the UK and abroad. Consequently, when Stephen heard about FundsReunited through a friend, he decided to pay for a search to discover whether any funds were lost as a result of his frequent change of address.

Within a matter of days, FundsReunited discovered Stephen had National Savings Premium Bonds worth in the region of £3,500 which he previously never knew existed. The bonds had been bought for Stephen by his father when he was a child but their regular moving from home to home meant that their details had been lost over the years.

Nancy Burton reunited with £5,000 in a lost fund held by her own bank!

Nancy Burton lives and works in Buckinghamshire. She heard about FundsReunited.com on Radio5 Live, and she and her brother Tom decided to conduct a search on behalf of their father who had passed away a couple of years previously. Nancy was so impressed with the service she received from FundsReunited.com that she decided to conduct a search for herself.

Just three weeks after submitting her details, Nancy was delighted to be told that FundsReunited.com had located £5,000 in a fund which had been set up in her early twenties, when she got her first job. What Nancy was astonished to find was that the lost fund was held with her current bank and yet this money had never been credited to her account. Nancy had always suspected that she may have had some money that she had lost touch with having moved jobs and houses a number of times but she never thought it would be in her own bank!

Eleanor Morton, Lavenham – more than just a small find!

David Parish is responsible for the financial control and corporate development of FundsReunited. The following case study illustrates how his interest in the FundsReunited concept was stimulated by his personal involvement in reuniting a friend, Eleanor Morton with a number of lost assets.

David had known Eleanor and her family for many years through his friendship with her son James, when in December 1990 Eleanor’s husband Jim died. James, a solicitor, took on the task of dealing with his father’s estate. However, sadly, not long after his father’s death, he too suddenly died aged just 37 years. As a close family friend David stepped in and offered to help Eleanor deal with the estates of both her husband and son.
