To celebrate the birth of his first grandson in 1965, Mr Bill Forster, a miner from Staffordshire, set up a small savings plan in his grandson’s name – Jonathan Rowley.

Jonathan is now 39 years old and lives in Cheshire with his wife Christine and his two children, Francesca (5 years old) and Jon-Paul (3 years old). It wasn’t until after his grandfather’s death in 1991, that Jonathan, a keen genealogist, found the policy details when looking through some old photographs and paperwork.

Karen is 38 years old and lives on the Isle of Wight with her husband and three children. She moved to Ryde from Bedford six years ago as they decided to set up a fish and chip shop.

Joseph Viegas had been living in Crawley, Sussex for over 20 years, working as a director of an office supplies company when he passed away in 2001, aged 53. David had known Eleanor and her family for many years through his friendship with her son James, when in December 1990 Eleanor’s husband Jim died.
